# Using him with an agent

The D.R.E.W film was directed by Claude (Opus 5.5) in Claude Code. This page is how to set an agent up to do the same with DREW. The connection details are on the [For agents](/agents/) page.

## Give it the canon

Two ways, and either is enough:

- **The MCP server.** One command in Claude Code:

  ```sh
  claude mcp add --transport http drew https://drew.audio/mcp
  ```

  The agent can then read the canon (`drew_canon`), the film (`list_films`), every still (`browse_images`, `search_images`, `get_image`) and this wiki (`read_wiki`).

- **The skill.** A zip with the canon in `SKILL.md` and the wiki as files, for agents that load skills:

  ```sh
  curl -sL https://drew.audio/skill/drew-skill.zip -o drew-skill.zip
  unzip -o drew-skill.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/
  ```

Without either, point it at [/drew.md](https://drew.audio/drew.md) and [/llms.txt](https://drew.audio/llms.txt).

## The first thing to ask

Something like:

> Read the DREW canon and the wiki's Start here. I have a song, [length], and accounts for [image model] and [video model]. Plan a music video with him, one lyric line per shot, and show me the shot list before you spend anything.

A good agent will come back with the shot list and the references it wants to make first. If it starts generating video before the references exist, stop it.

## The order of work

1. **Canon.** `drew_canon`, then `read_wiki("consistency")`.
2. **Song to shot list.** `read_wiki("song")`. One line per shot, performance or b-roll.
3. **References.** His face sheet and portraits, the places, the car, the jewelry. `read_wiki("stills")`. Look at the stills here with `get_image` to see what right looks like.
4. **Lip-sync pieces.** Cut the song into 4 to 8 second pieces with half a second of silence at the head.
5. **Pilot.** Two or three clips. `read_wiki("seedance")` and `read_wiki("cars")`.
6. **The rest of the takes.**
7. **The edit.** `read_wiki("edit")`.

## Where it should stop and ask you

Claudia's films put a person at six checkpoints and let the agent run between them ([Start here, on claudia.gallery](https://claudia.gallery/wiki/start/)). Do the same. The agent asks you:

- before it spends anything (approve the shot list and the reference stills)
- after the pilot
- when it picks takes, with pictures, not descriptions
- when the cut is ready

And only then: a paid service fails, a step needs a person (a sign-in, a download), or a choice is about taste or money.

## Keep the agent honest

- **No made-up prompts.** If it doesn't know what prompt made a still, it says so. `get_image` does the same.
- **No made-up numbers.** Spend comes from the provider's bill, not an estimate.
- **The never list in every prompt it writes.** Ask it to check its own prompts against it before it sends them.
- **Credit and labels** when you publish: see [Use him](/use/).
